Products and components must conform to appropriate national or international standards. Often times products or components used in commercial or industrial applications are not Listed or Recognized by an accredited laboratory. Where products are not Listed or Recognized and  verification that components meet requirements of these standards is not available, NSS can test components to international standards for safety, performance, or reliability. These tests can be performed either in our laboratory or at your facility. Upon satisfactory completion of the testing, NSS will issue a Certificate of Conformity for the equipment tested.

Test and Evaluation Procedures

NSS Laboratories procedures conform to the stringent requirements of ISO/IEC 17025, General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories. NSS maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for each standard we use. Our procedures are designed to provide third party unbiased results for each product we test.

  -  Inspection Procedures

The equipment is inspected to the construction requirements of the applicable standard. The inspections are performed on a "clause-by-clause" basis. The results of the inspections are recorded on test data sheets, including measurements and other applicable physical properties. Conformance or non-conformance is judged based on the technical requirements of the standards.

   - Test Procedures

The required tests are performed in accordance with the performance requirements of the applicable standard. In most cases, tests are performed after construction non-conformances have been corrected. Test procedures and the test environment follow the requirements of the standard. These tests are generally performed in our laboratory, however the tests can be performed at the manufacturer's facility if conditions permit. All test equipment used by NSS is calibrated within 1 year and is traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

   - Reporting

Upon completion of the project, NSS will issue a comprehensive evaluation report. Our reports include clear statements as to whether or not the product under test conforms to the applicable standard(s), clause-by-clause assessment results, and detailed test data sheets. Where required, Certificates of Conformity are issued based on the chosen product standards.
